Behind me we can see
the historical buildings but what most people don’t realize is how important
these Walls, Gates, Turrets, Doors and Moat of the Forbidden City are. Without
all these, the Forbidden City wouldn’t be the same as today.
These walls that surround the city are about 10m high. The same walls are 3500m long. These were so to defend the City. The turrets were there to protect the City also. Men with Bow and Arrow stood there alerted ready to shoot and defend at any time. They are located in each corner of the Forbidden City. Also, at each end of the Forbidden City there is a gate. You surely noticed the color yellow-this is it because yellow is the imperial color. On every end of the roof, we can see dragons; they represent Shen Long which is a spiritual dragon which protects the Forbidden City from fire by causing wind and rain.
